Employment First Teams Up with Indiblu Creative To Launch New Initiative
Charlotte, NC – The North Carolina Business Leadership Network (NCBLN) is changing the future of people with disabilities in the workplace by launching an Employment First initiative in North Carolina with the help of Indiblu Creative.
Employment First is a social movement driven to build a community which values and actively promotes employment as the first priority and preferred outcome for all working age people living with disabilities. Through advocacy, awareness, and outreach efforts to all audiences, Employment First hopes to change the common perception that people with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities have limited opportunities in the mainstream workplace.
Spearheading the Charlotte Employment First initiative, Ron Reeves is excited about starting the process with Indiblu. “When we saw what Indiblu did for their other nonprofit clients, and their many success stories, we knew we were with the right people who could get the job done,”commented Reeves. “At our very first meeting, it was crystal clear that they were a good fit for our campaign.”
To start, the NCBLN engaged Indiblu Creative to create an informative and attention-grabbing Employment First flyer for a fair focusing on the transition from high school to a career. The piece will introduce the Employment First initiative to high school students and parents and will challenge them to exceed common expectations of people with disabilities. It also encourages readers to get involved in ongoing efforts to improve the lives of adults living with disabilities, such as inviting employers to join the NCBLN.
Kimber Flynn, President and Creative Director of Indiblu Creative, shares her thoughts about the initiative, “This is not just about helping people find jobs. It is about giving people a purpose in life, a reason to get up and get going in the morning, and the ability to take ownership of their futures. Beyond the individual benefits of this initiative are the economic benefits to our community, which will be experienced by allowing more people to support themselves and ultimately rely less on public support and assistance. Socially, it presents a healthier environment in which all of us can experience the positive effects of diversity in the workplace.”
